Adobe Labs in Illustrator CS3: Kuler and Knowhow
In case you didn't know, there are two little hidden gems inside Adobe Illustrator CS3. Hidden away and largely undocumented kuler and knowhow can be found inside "Window > Adobe Labs".
Kuler

Kuler is my favourite of the tools, allowing you to browse user defined colour palettes from Adobe's popular kuler website. Downloaded through RSS feeds, the kuler tool will let you not only browse the palettes, but also download them instantly to your swatches window. And if you have created a really awesome colour swatch yourself, the kuler window will also let you upload it easily for other users to use.
If you like a certain user's swatches, or want to show only those with a certain title or tag, you can also modify the RSS filter to show only what you specify.
Knowhow
Knowhow is a cool little application that lets you search a knowledgebase from Adobe Labs and Del.icio.us for selected tools and items. It also gives you the ability to quickly change preferences for a selected tool, and offers hints and shortcut keys as well. Selecting the paintbrush tool showed me how to draw lines and apply brush strokes, and even better, an article on how to draw a cow.
I can only hope that Adobe continues to develop these unique tools to use, and hopefully find a way to integrate them into the rest of the Creative Suite.
